Mattress glossary

Padding:  A set of soft layers of various materials (wool, cotton, memory foam, latex, etc.) placed together and then stitched to the mattress cover.

Air Flow: Perforation system in different materials for better breathability. Found in mattress cores, upholstered bases and pillows.

Cotton: Textile fibre that grows around the cotton seed. It is the most important fibre in the world.

Antibacterial: With technology based on nanoparticles capable of destroying the outer membrane of viruses in a few minutes.

Anatomical: Mattress property that keeps the whole body supported and relaxed. In other words, it adapts perfectly to the body.

Anti-dust mite: Barrier designed to stop dust mites spreading.

Heat-neutral: Property that lets neither cold nor heat through. It avoids giving off any kind of temperature.

Upholstered base: Rigid support made with an iron frame and wooden board, upholstered in breathable fabrics.

Biocell: It is a polyurethane derivative, made with a very high density and rigid, highly breathable.

Storage divan base: Rigid box-shaped support placed under the mattress, with a lift-up lid for extra storage in the bedroom.

Fixed divan base: Rigid support with an aesthetic function, adding more height to the bed set.

Vacuum-rolled mattress: Mattress packing system using heavy machinery. They come rolled with no air inside.

Foam mattress: Mattresses made of polyurethane derivatives, with no other material except the padding.

Spring mattress: Mattresses with a spring core. There are several types: pocket, bonnell, etc.

Memory foam mattress: Mattresses made in several parts: a Biocell core and a layer of this material, which makes it very adaptable and comfortable.

Latex mattress: Mattress made with a latex core. Latex is a natural product extracted from a tree, or synthetic. It offers good adaptability

Hydraulic: Fittings used to lift the lid of a divan base effortlessly.

HR: Made of foams of different densities, referring to properties of flexibility, resistance and cushioning.

Hypoallergenic: designed to prevent allergic reactions.

Wool: Natural fibre obtained from goats and sheep.

Pocket springs: Core with cylinder-shaped springs, made with a pocket system that avoids annoying noise when you move.

Biconical spring: Spring core shaped like a double cone, narrowing in the middle.

Oeko-Tex: Certificate issued by an independent body. It guarantees that the components of a fabric are not harmful to health.

Soft plate: Plate of low-density HR material, making rest more comfortable.

Plagiocephaly: Positional plagiocephaly is the most common craniofacial anomaly and consists of a flattening of the back of the baby's head with facial asymmetry. It does not affect intellectual development, but correcting it is recommended for aesthetic reasons.

Anti-tip rollback: lets your baby sleep on their back or side, preventing them from turning over without you noticing.

Sanitized: Treatment that prevents odours and the growth of bacteria.

Bed base: Mattress support made of an iron frame with wooden slats.

Aloe Vera fabric: Stretch fabric with a hygienic, antibacterial treatment.

Celliant fabric: Fabric made of numerous minerals, able to regulate oxygen levels in the human body while you sleep.

Stretch fabric: Multi-stretch fabric that doesn't lose its shape, as it stretches in all directions. Aids rest.

3D fabric: Mattress fabric that helps breathability and regulates excess moisture.

Argentum fabric: High-quality fabric that helps remove moisture and acts as an antibacterial barrier.

Pure Fresh fabric: Fabric made of many layers of fibre that helps breathability and excess moisture.

Tencel fabric: Tencel fabric absorbs moisture very well and feels very soft.

Thermalfresh thermoregulation: Thermally perfect mattresses, each with different features to achieve the best adaptation to each sleeper's rest.

Topper: Thin mattress placed on top of another one, adding extra comfort when our mattress is too firm.

Memory foam: A super-adaptable material that adapts to every point of our body, aiding rest as no pressure builds up anywhere. It is a material discovered by NASA and used in its spacecraft seats.

Gel memory foam: Memory foam plate made with gel particles, for extra freshness and to avoid heat build-up.

Visco Graphene: Fabric with fibres that can cool themselves.
